Massage Techniques

Depending on your personal needs, you and your massage therapist select techniques that alone, or in combination, are soothing, revitalizing, restorative, and even inspiring.

Swedish Massage
The most commonly recognized technique and the basis for most other techniques. Uses long gliding strokes, deep kneading, small friction-type motions, light tapping, vibration and joint manipulation to reduce muscle fatigue and induce relaxation.

Deep Connective Tissue
DCT aims to affect the various layers of fascia that support and separate all muscle tissue. Long deep strokes assist hyper toned muscles to fully extend and relax, thus allowing the body to return to its own natural alignment.

Neuromuscular Therapy
NMT is an approach to pain intervention using advanced concepts in the art of pressure therapy. Pressure properly applied to myofascial trigger points or "knots" interrupts pain signals to the spinal cord, reduces the intensity of nerve activity in the tissue, and mechanically moves out toxic irritants accumulated at nerve receptor sites.

Myofascial Release
MFR plays a critical role in the rehabilitation of soft tissue dysfunction. It uses techniques that alter patterns of strain and restores normal functioning to the body. Prolonged gentle pressure is applied, with specific direction, until restrictions soften and release.

Active Release Techniques (Click Here to View ART website)
ART is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

Sports Massage
Sports massage is a form of bodywork geared toward participants in athletics. It is used to help prevent injuries, to prepare the body for athletic activity and maintain it in optimal condition, and to help athletes recover from workouts and injuries. Sports massage has three basic forms: pre-event massage, post-event massage, and maintenance massage.
